Since Wednesday morning, on 1, May, 2024, heavy rains fell on the provinces of Iraq in varying amounts over two days, resulting in human and material damages as detailed below:

  1. Diyala: The regions of Kishkool and Al-Salam were affected by rain floods, causing damage to 86 families, equivalent to 516 individuals.

  2. Maysan: 14 families were affected by floods, totaling 84 individuals. The total number of flood-affected families in Iraq is 100, equivalent to 600 individuals.

Summary

The National Response Teams of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society in Diyala, Erbil, and Maysan, under the supervision of the central office of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, responded to the flood disaster to minimize its impact. The following activities were carried out: A ) In Maysan: 1-a rapid field assessment was conducted, showing damage to only 14 families. 2 – Provided 14 food parcels, 14 kettles, 28 water tanks, 84 blankets, 14 kerosene stoves, 28 tarpaulins, 14 water jerycan, 28 hand towels, and 14 kitchen sets. B) Diyala: 1) Rapid Field Damage and Needs Assessment Implementation. 2 )Provided 86 food parcels, 86 kettles, 172 blankets, 86 kerosene stoves, 86 tarpaulins, 86 water jerycan, and 86 kitchen sets.
