The 34-year-old man, originally from Valledupar, said that “He waited all his life” for this recognition.

“Those who know us as accordion players know that it is a 15 or 20 year process, from childhood to this day that one dreams of,” he said.

Jaime Luis Castañeda Campillo also took advantage of the exciting victory to “give thanks to God” and dedicate it to his family. “It’s very difficult to stand out in a city like this, this city has a lot of talent”, he added.

In the midst of adversity, such as the theft of one of his accordions during the qualifying rounds, Castañeda Campillo managed to win the award.

In second place in the Vallenato Festival was Javier Álvarez Orozco and in third place, Camilo Andrés Molina Luna.

The current king is the accordion player of the singer Rafa Pérez, with whom he presented the song that was considered the song of the Barranquilla Carnival 2024.

Likewise, Unaldo José Rocha was crowned in the unreleased song category, with the merengue ‘Canta Valle canta’. “When you compose with your soul, with your heart, you have inspiration every day. This is a song that I made for Valledupar with a lot of respect and affection for that vallenato heart that inspires so much,” emphasized the happy winner.

The 57th version of the Vallenato Festival came to an end with great exponents of folklore and a closing concert with Juan Luis Guerra.
