This Tuesday, Racing beat Bicho 2-1 at home, in a match on date 4 of group F of the CONMEBOL – Copa Sudamericana 2024 tournament. Racing (U) showed its dominance by achieving a 2-0 advantage, with two goals from play. Tomás Verón Lupi converted at 19 minutes into the first half, while Erik De Los Santos made the difference bigger in the 26th minute of the same half. Argentinos Juniors managed to score with Luciano Gondou thanks to a play (31′ of the same stage). However, the time available was not enough to get closer on the scoreboard.

With 63% possession during the game, Argentinos Juniors sought to generate danger but it was not enough to take the victory.

Racing (U) forward Tomás Verón Lupi wasted the chance to open the scoring and take the lead by missing a penalty in the 19th minute of the first half.

Tomás Verón Lupi’s performance positioned him as the most outstanding player of the match. The Racing (U) forward showed his best level by scoring 1 goal, shooting 3 times into the opposite goal and making 14 correct passes.

Luciano Gondou was another of the outstanding players. The Argentinos Juniors forward showed his best level by scoring 1 goal, shooting twice into the opponent’s goal and making 14 correct passes.

Several infractions in the middle of the field forced the pace of the game to be cut. There were 3 reprimands: Gastón Verón, Dylan Nandín and Sebastián Prieto.

Racing strategist Eduardo Espinel stopped the starting eleven with a 4-4-2 formation with Rodrigo Odriozola in goal; Guillermo Cotugno, Hugo Magallanes, Lucas Monzón and Martín Ferreira on the defensive line; Erik De Los Santos, Lúcas Rodríguez, José Varela and Jonathan Urretaviscaya in the middle; and Tomás Verón Lupi and Dylan Nandín in the attack.

For their part, those chosen by Pablo Guede took the field with a 4-5-1 formation with Diego Rodríguez between the three sticks; Fernando Meza, Erik Godoy, Jonatan Galván and Román Vega in defense; Franco Moyano, Nicolás Oroz, José María Herrera, Gastón Verón and Damián Batallini in the midfield; and Luciano Gondou up front.

Carlos Betancur Gutiérrez was appointed as the main referee of the match at the Centenario stadium.
