JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A juvenile in their late teens and an adult were shot at an apartment complex on Jacksonville’s Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police said the victims were at the Argyle Lake Apartments in a car when they were approached by two individuals who then shot at them.
They fled from the area and drove the car to the local urgent care where they were transported to different hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
The adult male was shot in both arms and the juvenile was shot in his leg and back.
Nick Roman said he witnessed the shooting.
“He was shooting right next to a playground. I’m just happy that no one else was hurt. And that none of the kids were hurt because my sister’s kids were outside as well.
Roman said his neighbors were shocked about the shooting.
“My one neighbor that’s right next door to us, she’s very shaken up. “She’s scared and she was talking to her husband about it as well,” Roman said.
A burgundy sedan could be seen at the urgent care with what appears to be a bullet hole in the backseat window.
Police said the car was parked in front of the urgent care on Argyle Forest Boulevard for several hours before the shooting and it happened during peak hours when the plaza was busy with shoppers.
When News4JAX arrived at the scene, the passenger door was open and the car was running.
Police said they haven’t been able to talk to the victims because of their conditions.
The plaza is still open to shoppers.
