Intolerance in Colombia continues to show its most violent face. In block 2 of Ciudad Equidad, east of Santa Marta, an argument over a debt of $6,000 resulted in a brutal assault with a knife. Alicia Mejía, a resident of the sector, was stabbed by her neighbor, Joelis Torres, in an episode that has shocked the community.

According to Última Hora Magdalena, The incident was triggered when Torres arrived at Mejía’s house to collect the money for a cheese that he had ordered days before. Mejía explained I didn’t have the money at that time, which caused a strong argument between both women. The verbal dispute escalated quickly and, within minutes, Joelis Torres took out a knife and stabbed Alicia Mejía twice in different parts of her body.

The victim was left badly injured on the ground, while neighbors, alarmed by the screams and violence of the attack, came to his aid. Mejía was immediately transferred to a healthcare center, where she is receiving medical attention.
Regarding the attacker, the same portal reported that she fled, so the authorities are on her trail.
“Sometimes it’s not money that makes some people make a fatal decision, but mockery and bullshit. There are people who like to take credit and then don’t like to pay, but whatever the case, it’s not the point of wanting to kill someone for a miserable $6000.” reads in a comment.
