Given the escalation of violence and insecurity in Valle del Cauca, Governor Dilian Francisca Toro, and various regional leaders, have sent a letter to President Gustavo Petro requesting a special hearing to address this situation.

Although they recognize the support received from the Ministry of Defense, argue that more robust measures are required to confront and stop the various forms of crime that affect the area.

The document emphasizes the need to strengthen the Police, the Army and other security organizations with improvements in logistics, intelligence, increased force, increased flight hours and the taking of forceful actions against criminal infrastructure. In particular, the urgency of acting against the structures detected in the rural area of ​​Jamundí is highlighted, such as an illegal highway and gasoline stations used by the Jaime Martínez structure of the FARC dissidents.

For its part, The unions have expressed their willingness to collaborate from various sectors to stop the actions of criminals, promoting initiatives that facilitate the replacement of illicit economiesthe generation of employment and the environmental conservation of the territory.

The letter has the signatures of the mayor of Cali, Alejandro Eder, and 50 other people, including representatives of civil society, the Catholic Church, economic unions, senators, universities and representatives to the Chamber, among others.
