Audax Italiano wasted the opportunity to beat Palestino 2-1 at the El Teniente Stadium, thanks to a decisive goal from Felipe Chamorro.
Substitute Chamorro came off the bench and put Palestino ahead in the 62nd minute, when he headed the ball into the net. The midfielder, who came on in the 58th minute, shot low into the right corner after combining with Jonathan Benítez.
Pablo Sánchez’s team also found the net through Bryan Carrasco, while Gonzalo Ríos scored for the hosts.
Ríos had punished the visitors by breaking the tie after nine minutes with a volley in which the goalkeeper managed to touch the ball but could not prevent it from entering. The forward shot high into the left corner after combining with midfielder Óliver Rojas. However, the lead did not last long as Carrasco equalized in the 58th minute, leaving the goalkeeper unable to stop him despite having touched him. That spurred the visitors on and Chamorro’s winning goal came four minutes later.
Audax failing to save a point, Nicolás Fernández and Luciano Arriagada regretted not having taken advantage of the good opportunities that were presented to them in the match.
With these victories, Palestino has four games without losing against Audax (2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses).
