An Iberia A350 has suffered an incident at the Pisco international airport, in southern Peru. The plane from Madrid was destined for Lima, but a breakdown in the runway lights at the Jorge Chávez airport forced the crew to divert.

In statements to REPORTUR.mxfrom Iberia explained that they were forced to divert, cancel and/or reschedule flights due to a problem unrelated to their operations due to the closure at the Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima.

From the first moment, the airline provided the necessary resources to address the contingency and customers were informed of the corresponding flight rescheduling and protection. “A large part of the affected operation has already been normalized and work is being done to provide a solution to the last customers who have not been able to take their flights,” Iberia explained.

The incident did not cause any harm to passengers, airport staff or plane crew, as the passengers had already disembarked after the flight.

Iberia wants to “extend its apologies to the passengers and customers affected by this inconvenience beyond its control and reiterates that it is working to provide a prompt solution to the problem.”
