An earthquake of 4.2 magnitude and with a depth of 62.0 kilometers alerted the residents of the city of Petorca.
The epicenter of the episode was at coordinates -70.901 degrees longitude and -32.414 degrees latitude, that is, 18.0 kilometers south of said town, according to the National Seismological Center (CSN).
The updated information from the CNS indicates that the earthquake began at 10:22 p.m. (local time) this Friday, June 7.

Some volcanoes that are located in the Pacific Ring of Fire and that have generated relevant eruptions with great damage on a global scale are: Krakatoa In Indonesia, Mount Fuji in Japan, Mount St. Helens in the United States, the Bump in Mexico and the Nevado del Ruiz in Colombia, among others.
Every time a major earthquake or eruption happens in this region, fear arises that the Pacific Ring of Fire is “activated” generating more natural disasters, however, this is not possible, since each earthquake or volcanic activity is mostly independent of each other, that is, they have no direct relationship.
