VEMO travels more than 57 million green kilometers in one year.

SEE, the cleantech Mexican leader in the transition towards clean mobility in Latin America, avoided the emission of 10,813 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCOe) in more than 57 million green kilometers traveled in 2023, according to its 2023 sustainability report presented under international standards .

The greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that VEMO avoided last year were 4.4 times more than the reduction of 2,481 tons of CO2e achieved a year before, indicates the second annual report with which VEMO ratifies its commitment to environmental criteria. social and governance (ESG).

The air pollutants the company avoided included 8,903 kilograms of Nitrogen Oxide, Sulfur Oxide and Particulate Matter (PM) emissions.

Almost 3 years after its creation, VEMO has established itself as the most active and diversified clean mobility company in Latin America, and has one of the most integrated and innovative business models worldwide.

In the report, VEMO includes its materiality analysis, which allows it to identify the most relevant sustainability elements, following the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) methodology, an evaluation that records the main ESG impacts with the interests of the business and its stakeholders. interest.

In the introduction to the report, VEMO co-founders Roberto Rocha, Co-Founder and CEO, and Germán Losada, Co-Founder, President, and COO, respectively, state:

“As climate change is one of the defining challenges of our time, to combat it, we at VEMO are committed to inspiring change that resonates far beyond our walls. We will achieve this by working hand in hand with clients, colleagues and partners.”

Managers remember the company’s three sustainability principles: sustainability is a shared responsibility, sustainability is not a simple procedure to comply with, and sustainability is a continuous process, not an end point.

Decarbonizing CDMX

At the end of 2023, VEMO had more than 630 electric vehicles in Mexico City, which traveled a total of 57 million electric kilometers, which contributed to the decarbonization of the transportation sector in the region. In 2023 alone, emissions avoided by its electric fleet represented 36% of the company’s total GHG inventory.

The electrification of vehicles that travel many kilometers daily is essential to significantly reduce emissions in the transportation industry. By driving electrification in this industry, VEMO is confident that greater environmental benefits can be achieved by reducing GHG emissions and local pollutants.

Also in the environmental area, VEMO has measured its carbon footprint and has identified that it emits 30,363 tCO2e. Of this amount, 49% are direct emissions from fuel use, 13% come from electricity consumption, and 38% were generated by its supply chain and other indirect activities.

The VEMO charging network (VCN) reached an installed capacity of 7 MW, including the largest network of superhubs multipurpose facility in Mexico, and recorded up to 40,000 monthly electric vehicle battery charging sessions, through Watts by VEMO, the first independent electric charging monetization application in the country. This makes it the most intensive and experienced charging network in Latin America.
