MEXICO CITY (apro).- Jean Succar Kuri, a Lebanese businessman accused of pedophilia, died at the age of 79 in a private hospital in Cancún, the city where he was serving a sentence for sexual crimes committed years ago against minors.

Sources confirmed the death of the businessman, who had been transferred to the private Playamed hospital in downtown Cancun a week ago due to health complications. Succar Kuri was serving a 94-year prison sentence for the crimes of corruption of minors and child pornography committed in this city.

According to sources, the convicted man had been suffering from visible health problems for some years. Through various resources, after his conviction, he sought to benefit from house arrest in one of his residences located in the hotel zone of Cancun.

There are seven direct victims who suffered from the criminal acts of Succar Kuri in the 2000s. Their victims were minors between 17 and 15 years old.

The courts of Quintana Roo first sentenced him to a sentence of 100 years in prison. After appeals, he managed to have his sentence reduced to 94 years.

Succar Kuri, of Lebanese origin, arrived in Cancun in the 1990s. He worked as a businessman in various fields, mainly in the area of ​​transportation at the Cancun International Airport when he achieved nationalization.

As time went by, various illegal acts committed against minor victims were discovered. In recent months he sought, through amparos, to mitigate his sentence.

This Friday, after his death was confirmed, personnel from the Quintana Roo Prosecutor’s Office appeared at the Playamed hospital to carry out the corresponding procedures and take the body.

It is unknown what their fate will be, while many of their victims still have consequences, they have recently reiterated publicly.
