Matija Sarkic, goalie of Millwall FC, died this Saturday at the age of 26, as reported by the English club itself on its website, although without making “further comments at the moment” about the reasons for his death.

“Sarkic, goalkeeper and number 1 of the ‘Lions’, has played 33 games for the club since he arrived from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2023,” he indicated.
“An international with Montenegro, he proudly represented his country on numerous occasions,” Millwall added.
“Everyone at the club sends their love and condolences to Matija’s family and friends at this immensely sad time. The club will not be making any further comments at this time and asks that the privacy of the family of Matija Sarkic”Millwall concluded.
According to the Montenegrin press, Sarkic felt unwell while in his apartment in Budva, Montenegro.
After friends of the goaliethe emergency services went to his apartment and found him dead there.
Born in England, Sarkic spent most of his adolescence in Belgium, where he trained in the youth ranks of Anderlecht.
He had played nine games for Montenegro’s senior team, the last of which was against Belgium on June 5, when he had an outstanding performance.
