English and world football is in mourning after the death of the Montenegrin goalkeeper Matija Sarkicwho played for him Millwall in the Football League Championship (England’s second division). The London club reported in an official statement that Sarkic, 26, died this Saturday.
Born in London, but international with the national team Montenegro On nine occasions, Sarkic played 33 games last season for Millwall, where he arrived from Wolverhampton Wanderers of the Premier League. The sad news was also confirmed by the Football Association of Montenegro.
“Millwall are completely devastated to announce that Matija Sarkic has passed away at the age of 26. “Everyone sends love and condolences to his family and friends at this very sad time,” the British club said in its statement.
Sarkic’s last match as a professional footballer was on Wednesday of last week, when Montenegro lost 2-0 on their visit to the Belgian National Team.

Upon returning home, he began to feel unwell, which led his companions to call an ambulance. Unfortunately, despite being taken to a hospital, nothing could be done to save his life.
