The National Association of Actors (ANDA) reported on the death of filmmaker Moisés Ortíz-Urquidi at 58 years old, who was director of The Lord of the heavens. “Our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. Rest in peace,” the union expressed through social networks.

“Moisés Ortiz Urquidi was a very beautiful person whom I had the privilege of knowing since our years as film students. We will always remember him with all our affection at the FICM,” wrote Daniela Michel, director of the festival.
Producer Epigmenio Ibarra dedicated some farewell words to him: “It is impossible to imagine Argos without thinking of you. Endearing and professional colleague, brother, we are going to miss you” and he recalled that they looked at life and told stories together for 30 years.
Until now The causes of Moisés Ortiz Urquidi are unknown. He is survived by his wife, actress Natalia Benvenuto, and two children.

Who was Moisés Ortiz Urquidi?
Ortiz Urquidi studied cinematography at the Cinematographic Training Center (CCC) and later he was a professor of Cinematographic Editing Theory. He was also an acting teacher at the Blue House.
Moisés worked for production companies such as HBO, Argos and Cadena Tres. Throughout his career as a director there are around 20 productions, among which the following stand out: The wounded soul (2003) Cappadocia (2010), Infamous (2012), The traps of desire, The Lord of the heavens (2018) and The Aparicio (2015), in the latter he worked alongside actors such as Tenoch Huerta, Damian Alcazar, Ana de la Reguera, Maria del Carmen Farías, Isaura Espinoza.
His last job was Blood pact (2023), a television series with Bárbara de Regil and Alejandro Nones as protagonists.
