A two-meter shark causes the closure of a beach in Gran Canaria

The presence of a shark on Melenara beach, in Telde (Gran Canaria), caused it to have to be closed to the public this Saturday, after the lifeguards working there alerted the Local Police of the coastal municipality. The shark would measure about two meters, according to the local media La Provincia.

The agents received the notice around 5:00 p.m., which led to the placement of the red flag due to the presence of dangerous marine animals and a search device with jet skis which for the rest of the day did not work.

For this reason, a spokesperson for the Telde Local Police reported that the beach will remain closed to bathroom until the searches carried out in its waters end.

On social networks, Twitter user Carmeletea has posted a video of the moment the shark appeared. In it you can see the animal swimming back and forth in the bathing area under the watchful eye of the rest of the bathers.

The Melenara Beach It is located to the east of Gran Canaria, in the municipality of Telde and, currently, it sports the Blue Flag for its beauty and commitment to quality, according to the island’s tourism website.
