The ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Paraguay, José Chih-Cheng Han He expressed his nation’s intention to continue collaborating with our country in different aspects such as education, transportation, among others. Likewise, he mentioned the progress in the construction project of the headquarters of the Taiwan-Paraguay Polytechnic University (UPTP).
“Taiwan is a partner that wants to accompany Paraguaywe cannot say that we are going to bring development, but we are going to accompany and support on that path towards development and we can transfer knowledge“said the diplomat in conversation with 650 AM.
Chih-Cheng Han spoke about the importance of investment in education and how Countries with serious governments put this area as a priority. In this sense, the ambassador highlighted President Santiago Peña’s efforts to support education in different areas and pointed out that Taiwan continues its interest in supporting higher education.

“We are putting a lot of focus on UPTP, which is a project that, in addition to training good engineers, is the only university in the region that during the four years, the subjects are taught in English, that means that the graduates They are efficient in English and that increases their competitiveness”, he stated.
In this sense, he indicated that after the assignment of the land for the construction of the UPTP, both the Paraguayan and Taiwanese authorities are focused on the bidding guidelines. At the moment, it is not yet possible to specify the date on which the call will be made, but the intention of both parties is that it be as soon as possible.

José Chih-Cheng Han spoke regarding the geopolitical situation of Taiwan with mainland China and He said that the tension levels continue, However, he confirmed that his nation is sovereign and that they are not aware of what the neighboring country considers correct. “Let’s continue on our way”, he expressed.
The ambassador recalled that Taiwan has fulfilled its promise to support its allies and pointed out that China’s interest is not to support the nations that support it, but simply to ensure that they do not ally with its country. “Opting for China does not mean that there is economic development because development lies in the hands of the people themselves,” he said.
