The Municipality of the Corrientes district of July 9 fired the official María Victoria Caillavaone of the three people arrested in the last few hours for the disappearance of the five-year-old boy Loan Danilo Peña. The decision was made this Saturday by the mayor of 9 de Julio, Hugo Insaurraldeabout whom she served as Production Director of the commune.
Caillava was arrested on Friday night in relation to the case in the last hours along with her partner, Carlos Pérez, and the commissioner who was in charge of the search for the five-year-old boy Walter Maciel. “The Executive Department considers the decision to immediately disaffect and remove said official from her duties as reasonable and appropriate”indicated a statement issued by the Municipality of 9 de Julio.
On the other hand, the Corrientes Ministry of Security also ordered the passivity of Commissioner Pérez and the beginning of an administrative summary of his case. Caillava is a friend of the child’s grandmother and participated in the lunch at which the minor disappeared. which has been intensely searched for nine days.
The arrests occurred after one of the Police dogs detected traces of Loan in two of the three vehicles that belonged to the couple. Shortly before being arrested, Caillava had assured, in television statements, that “Loan clothes were planted on her”. She added that “I can’t believe, I swear, what’s happening, I can’t believe.”
The head of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office of the first instance of Goya, Mariano de Guzmán, requested this Friday the collaboration of the Office of the Prosecutor for Human Trafficking and Exploitation (PROTEX) in the case. It is due to the suspicion that the case could be related to a trafficking event that would exceed local jurisdiction.
Mónica del Carmen Millapi is also detained in the case; her husband, Daniel “Fierrito” Ramírez, and Antonio Benítez, one of the minor’s uncles. Hundreds of local police officers, federal forces, firefighters and municipal agents carried out extensive searches in fields and lagoons in the area, so far without success.
