Verstappen reinforced his leadership in Formula 1 with the victory of the Spanish GP

The Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull), triple world champion, reinforced his leadership in the Formula 1 World Championship by winning the Spanish Grand Prix on the Montmeló circuit.

“Mad Max” managed his seventh win of the yearand number 61 in his F1 career, winning with a time of one hour, 28 minutes, 20 seconds and 227 thousandths.

The leader of the classification surpassed the British Lando Norris (McLaren, +2.219s), who started from pole, and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes, +17.790s).

George Russel (Mercedes) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. On the other hand, Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) was the best local with sixth place, while Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) was twelfth.

This way, Verstappen reached 219 points in the World Cup, 69 units ahead of Norris. In the constructors’ competition, Red Bull leads with 330, followed by Ferrari with 270.

The next test, the Austrian Grand Prix -with a sprint format- will be held next weekend, Sunday, June 30, at 09:00 Chile time (13:00 GMT).
