Rio Grande 06/24/2024.- The Federal Judge in Río Grande, Mariel Borruto, ruled to suspend the application of gas rates in Tierra del Fuego AeIAS for three months. The measure arises from the Collective Amparo presented by Governor Gustavo Melella together with broad sectors of society in the face of the excessive increases of up to a thousand percent suffered by Fuegian consumers.

In the resolution, the Judge decided to grant the precautionary measure and “suspend the effects of resolution 41/2024 of the Secretary of Energy of the Nation -National State- and resolution 122/2024 issued by the National Gas Regulatory Entity (ENARGAS), and inform the aforementioned entities that they must refrain from applying the new tariff tables stipulated there to all users and consumers of the public gas service through networks in the “Tierra del Fuego” tariff subzone.

Likewise, it informs the distribution company Camuzzi Gas del Sur SA that “it must refrain from requiring and/or pursuing the collection of any sum of money and/or proceed to cut off or suspend the supply of gas service due to non-payment of the billing issued from the application of the tariff tables ordered by resolutions No. 41/2024 and 122/2024 in relation to the users and consumers of the public gas service through networks of the “Tierra del Fuego” tariff subzone.

According to what was resolved, Justice has determined to suspend the effects of the resolutions that gave rise to the modification of the April tariff schedule, which was as a result of which the excessive increases began to be received. This will last until the underlying issue is resolved, which is Governor Melella’s request to completely annul those resolutions that modified the tariff schedule.

Governor Melella, through his social networks, expressed his satisfaction with what was resolved by Justice, considering that “it protects our citizens, making room for the appeal for protection that we presented with the support of the entire community to stop the excessive increases. in gas rates.”

“The suspension of resolutions 41/2024 and 122/2024 of the National Secretariat of Energy ensures that the new gas rate tables are not applied, easing the economic burden on our families,” highlighted the President.

“In addition, Camuzzi Gas del Sur is prevented from cutting off supply due to non-payment under these unfair rates. This is a great step towards justice and the protection of our rights in these moments of extreme temperatures that hit our province and the rest of the Patagonian region,” recalled the Governor.
