Euro 2024 saw an action-packed group stage conclude this Wednesday, June 26. And after an intense battle between 24 teams, the 16 finalists advanced to the round of 16. The two best teams from each of the six groups have advanced to the playoffs, along with the four best third-place teams.
Germany and Switzerland advanced in group A, while Spain was comfortable in group B, joined by Italy. England, France and the Netherlands also qualified from their respective groups, but Les Bleus were beaten by Austria, who finished first in Group D after a brilliant performance in the group stage. In Group E, Romania finished on top, while Belgium also advanced to the next stage. Portugal also advanced as first in the group.
In the round of 16, defending champions Italy will face Switzerland in Berlin. Hosts Germany will play Denmark at the vibrant BVB Stadion in Dortmund. France, who are one of the favorites to win the tournament, will face Belgium, while Portugal will play Slovenia.
Georgia made history after qualifying for the playoffs and will have a daunting task against Spain. Romania will face the Netherlands in Munich, while England will face Slovakia.
