Innovative productions based on real facts have arrived this year to Netflix. These stories surprise us by bringing stories to every home, sometimes chilling ones, since some are based on crimes committed by people who go beyond fiction.
This is the case of a crime that shocked Spain a decade ago and has now been brought to the small screen. “When the parents of Asunta, who is only twelve years old, report her disappearance, the investigation soon turns against her. The truth turns out to be more sinister than everyone imagined,” says the official synopsis of Netflix from “The Asunta case”.

This story happened in 2013 when Asunta Basterra Porto, a 12-year-old girl adopted by Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra, was found dead in a forest on the outskirts of Santiago de Compostela on September 24. There they began investigations to find out what happened to the girl that all pointed to her family.
The autopsy, for example, revealed that the cause of death was asphyxiation due to poisoning with Lorazepam, an anxiety medication. Finally, in 2015 a trial was held that imprisoned the parents to 18 years in prison. Both were accused of murdering the girl.
