The Boys will end up closing its story in the fifth season, but its universe will continue with productions of all kinds
A few hours ago we learned the news that The Boys will conclude with its fifth season. Although this announcement has saddened the vast majority of fans, the showrunner wanted to make it clear that this is not the end of the franchise on the small screen.
Through an interview with the American media Variety, Eric Kripke commented that The Boys It focused on Homelander and Butcher, so the fifth season will be the end of their story, but not the end for the other characters that appear in it.
“I think they can and should continue. The story of The Boys is about Butcher and Homelander, and these two planets colliding with each other and this particular story doesn’t work without those two. So what I would say is that this particular story is ending, Butcher-Homelander is ending. But there may be other stories and other corners of the universe and hopefully it’s vibrant and kinky enough to allow for those stories. So, hopefully, Gen V continues, hopefully. a couple of other things we have in development continue.”
Throughout these three seasons, we have seen how both characters faced each other more and more, and as the chapters passed, the conflict between them became more tense. Therefore, concluding this narrative arc in a fifth season was the most sensible thing for the showrunnersince making it too long could worsen the quality of the series in general.
Eric Kripke knew what he was doing, and that is why, before finishing this story, he will open new ones with different spin-offs focused on the universe of The Boys. The first season of Gen V was a success and we already have new episodes on the way. In addition, a new series focused on Mexico is added that also hopes to surprise fans of the work created by Garth Ennis.
