Vox, the party chaired by Santiago Abascal, obtained only 6 seats, far behind the traditional parties in his country, in this Sunday’s elections in which all of Europe elected its representatives to the European Parliament.

The center-right Popular Party (PP) was the big winner of the day, closely followed by the ruling PSOE (socialist). An unexpected far-right candidate took ground from Vox.

This Sunday’s elections had repercussions in Argentina, based on the very active support that the president Javier Milei manifested towards the Spanish far-right space Voxwith gestures of enormous consequences in the bilateral relationship.

Although it met the expectations of many local pollsters who, in the run-up to the elections, predicted a result similar to the one that finally materialized, the group led by Santiago Abascala personal friend of the libertarian, reached just 9.62% of the votes.

On the other hand, Vox had a last-minute competitor in another far-right space, led by Alvise Pérez, a young political analyst who created the SALF party, with the acronym for the slogan “The Party is Over,” with which he managed 4.58% of the votes and 3 MEPs.

Vox will go from having 4 deputies to occupying 6 seats in the European Parliament, although it was far behind the traditional Popular Party (PP), the big winner of the day, which with 34.18% of the votes will have 22 legislators.

In second place was the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE), to which the current president of the Government belongs, Pedro Sanchezwhich added up to 30.19% of the votes and won a total of 20 deputies.

It was precisely during an event organized by Vox in Madrid, that Javier Milei gave a strong speech against socialism and criticized, although without directly naming him, the local president – alluding to his wife’s alleged judicial complications -, which unleashed a conflict that culminated with the withdrawal of the Spanish ambassador in Buenos Aires.

An exchange of very harsh criticism between both leaders the climate between two traditionally united countries soured due to historical, political, cultural and even economic ties. This Sunday’s election results further accentuate the cost paid by the diplomatic miscalculation to intervene in the affairs of another country to support a minority force.

“Global elites do not realize how destructive it can be to implement the ideas of socialism, because they have it too far away; They do not know what type of society and country they can produce and what kind of people screwed in power and what levels of abuse it can generate, even when he has a corrupt woman, he gets dirty and takes five days to think about it“, the Argentine head of state had said at the Vox congress, recalling that Sánchez threatened to resign from his position due to a series of complaints against his partner, Begoña Gómez.

Just a few hours later, the Spanish government demanded an apology, but Milei refused to apologize and, quite the contrary, days later he recommended to his European counterpart a psychologist for his “Inferiority complex” and a “good lawyer for Begoña, because he has a lot of cases in which he is suspected of influence peddling”.

“Pedro Sánchez will become the laughingstock of the whole world for the antics he is doing with a personal issue. All the grievances and attacks came from him and his government before the elections,” added the libertarian in an interview given to journalist Antonio Laje in LN+.

From that moment on, an exchange of criticism began between both presidents, which now moved to the European Parliament elections, since Milei himself celebrated the defeat of the PSOE, despite the poor result that Vox obtained.

Shortly after the provisional scrutiny became known, Milei shared the message in the general elections of 23-J”, while, just a year later, that figure fell to 34.83 percent.

He also retweeted a message from Buenos Aires legislator Nahuel Sotelo, who wrote: “The free world triumphs! Europe follows the path of Argentina and the parties that defend life, liberty and private property are strengthened. The impoverishing left is left behind and in crisis. Much of it is direct influence of Javier Milei! The world is watching us!”
