ROME (Europa Press).- The Pope Francisco This Monday he asked that the homilies be brief and not last more than eight minutes because, otherwise, people “fall asleep.” The Supreme Pontiff also addresses priests who “talk a lot” and those who are not understood.

“The homily should be brief: an image, a thought, a feeling. A homily should not last more than eight minutes because after that time attention is lost and people fall asleep, and he is right,” Francis said. “Priests sometimes talk a lot and it is not understood what they are talking about,” he added during the general audience this Wednesday, held in St. Peter’s Square.

“The homily should help transfer the Word of God from the Book to life”he pointed out in this sense.

The Pope toured St. Peter’s Square in the popemobile and, accompanied by four children, greeted the faithful. At the end of the general audience, Francis renewed his call for peace in the world. “Let us not forget the tormented Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Myanmar and so many countries that are at war: let us pray for peace”he claimed.

And he stressed: “Today we need peace. War is always a defeat from the first day. May the Lord give us strength to always fight for peace.”
