KIEV.- The Prosecutor General of Ukraine This Tuesday he accused the Russian forces of having beheaded a Ukrainian soldier in the Donetsk region, near the east front. The discovery was made by the Ukrainian military during an aerial reconnaissance mission, that they found the severed head on top of the hood of a destroyed military car.

“While conducting aerial reconnaissance at one of the combat positions in the Donetsk region, Ukrainian military discovered a damaged armored vehicle of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. It contained the severed head of a Ukrainian defender“, indicated the office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine on social networks.

Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin said that Russian forces operating in the Volnovakha district received orders to not to take any Ukrainian soldiers as prisoners of war and instead “kill them with inhuman cruelty, beheading them.”

“This is a terrible barbarism that has no place in the 21st century. And it is another proof that the war crimes committed by the aggressor are not isolated incidents, but a planned strategy of the Russian regime,” he emphasized.

His office posted an image that supposedly shows armored military vehicle with blurred sectionwhere Ukrainian drones would have found the severed head.

Moscow did not immediately respond to this allegation and AFP was unable to independently verify the allegations made by the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office.

Kostin promised that the incident would not go unpunished and asked “to the entire civilized world to isolate and punish the terrorist country”referring to Russia.

The Ukrainian prosecutor’s office said it had opened an investigation for violation of the laws of war and premeditated murder.

In April 2023, an alleged video of Russian occupiers cutting off the head of a Ukrainian prisoner appeared on the Internet. Judging from the video, the soldier was still alive when one of the occupants committed the crime.

On March 6 of that year, another video was published on the Internet showing how Russian soldiers shot a Ukrainian prisoner of war at point-blank range.
