In the midst of the different activities that take place at the Corferias fairgrounds, as part of the Bogotá International Book Fair (Filbo), which will last until next Thursday, May 2, the children who are part of the foundation from Shakira they received great news.
Since the Barranquilla singer-songwriter’s career began to take off, in the second part of the 90s, Shakira became interested in social contributions, creating the Pies Descalzos Foundation, the same title as her third album, which launched her race to stardom.
Through this Foundation, it managed to build a series of mega schools in the least favored areas of the country, so that children and young people in these places can have access to high-quality education. Now, the Colombian Book Chamber has decided to link up with this project of the Pies Descalzos Foundation to provide them with school textbooks in their three schools. This agreement was signed by the Colombian Book Chamber, the Pies Descalzos Foundation and the Externado University of Colombia within the activities of the Bogotá International Book Fair (Filbo), with the objective of providing school textbooks to three basic courses. primary school with mathematics, language and reading plan textbooks, as well as provision of school libraries and teacher training.
The schools selected for this donation are located in Barranquilla and Cartagena and belong to the public network of educational institutions in those cities, which do not have this type of educational resources for the training of their students. For the first time, school textbook editors affiliated with the Colombian Book Chamber, educational institutions sponsored by the Pies Descalzos Foundation and a higher education entity such as the Externado University of Colombia are linked to a program of this nature.
