Reaching the middle of the 2024 edition of the Buenos Aires International Book Fair, the publishers and event organizers continue to offer various free activities in the pavilions of the La Rural headquarters, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo.
For this Saturday, May 4, in fact, the programming includes, among other things, book signings, presentations, debate tables and workshops that are free access for those who are visiting the Fair until the capacity of the rooms is filled. Below is a review of some of the most notable ones.
1. Signature of Mariana Enriquez. The Argentine writer Mariana Enriquez, who launched this year the book of stories A sunny place for gloomy people, announced that he will be present at the Firmódromo de la Rural space, starting at 5 p.m. to meet his readers and sign copies of his books. One day later, on Sunday the 5th, she will participate in a talk organized by the El Libro Foundation with the writer Juan Mattiostarting at 5 p.m. The place chosen for this activity is the José Hernández Room.
2. Víctor Hugo Morales on Milei. The journalist and radio host Víctor Hugo Morales will present from 4 p.m. your book Milei, edited by Colihue. The author will discuss his brand-new publication before the public in the Victoria Ocampo room of the White Pavilion.
3. Diversities and Latin American art. The researcher Andrea Giunta will talk about her latest book, published by the Siglo XXI label, with the writer Tamara Tenenbaumstarting at 4:30 p.m. in the Future Zone room of the Yellow Pavilion of the property.
4. A tour of the work of Pablo Bernasconi. The illustrator will be the protagonist of a talk with the public dedicated to exploring his work. It will be from 4 p.m. in the Adolfo Bioy Casares room. The activity is organized by the publisher Penguin Random House.
5. Sex and literature: a sharp edge. “From different genres and proposals, the authors of this table will discuss the intersection between literature and sexuality, and the tools that narrative offers to tell something that, many times, is unspeakable,” Editorial Planeta reported on this conversation. which Virginia Feinmann, Paula B. Giménez, Gastón Portal and Enzo Maqueira will participate, with the moderation of Tomás Villafañe. It will be from 5 p.m., in the Pride and Prejudice space: Space for Sexual Diversity and Culture, located in the Ocre Pavilion.
6. Facundo Pastor presents Isabel. Accompanied by Marcelo Larraquy and Florence Halfonjournalist Facundo Pastor will present his recent book starting at 7 p.m. Isabel, edited by Sudamericana. He will do so in the Domingo Faustino Sarmiento room and, at the end, he will sign copies at the Penguin Random House stand.
General information
On Saturdays and Sundays the Book Fair is open from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. General admission costs 5 thousand pesos. Admission, meanwhile, is free every day for children under 12 years of age, teachers, people with disabilities and those who have the Cultural Pass.
“Each visitor who purchases a ticket (for any day) or pass (for three visits) will receive a checkbook of $4,000 to use in participating bookstores once the Fair ends. Each entry, furthermore, will be accompanied by discount vouchers that can be used to purchase books at the Fair stands“, reported the organizers of the event and added: “Tickets of $5,000 and passes will have 5 vouchers of $1,000. Each voucher of $500 or $1,000 can be used to cover up to 10% of the payment on purchases of $10,000 or more. The vouchers are cumulative, for example: for the purchase of a $20,000 book, you can deduct $2,000 in two $1,000 vouchers.
