Winter hours for workers are now in effect, what should you know?

As of Tuesday, May 21, the winter schedule for public and private sector workersor in Boliviaas provided by the Ministry of Labor through an instruction issued last Monday.

What is winter time?

The discontinuous working day from Monday to Friday will be from 09:00 to 12:30 and from 14:30 to 19:00. However, the measure also applies to all modalities and types of schedules.

What must be considered?

The departmental head of Labor in Santa Cruz, Miguel Justiniano Camacho, this Wednesday at a press conference, provided important clarifications to take into account:

It is not a tolerance: The change in schedule does not mean that the employer is giving the worker 30 minutes of tolerance to arrive. It is a rescheduling of the work day.

It is not a reduction in working hours: The 30 minutes that are eliminated at the beginning of the day are compensated at the end, so the worker works 8 full hours.

It is applicable to all schedules: The purpose of the instructions is to be applied to all schedules, even those that are continuous or different from the administrative schedule.

The employer cannot modify the schedule unilaterally: It must be agreed upon with the worker.

How is winter time being implemented?

Some institutions are already complying with the measure since this Wednesday. For example, the General Directorate of Migration (Digemic) will serve the public of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. continuouslywhile the General Personal Identification Service (Segip) will do so 7:30 to 15:30 at the national level.

What should be done if winter time is not observed?

Companies and institutions They must publish their entry and exit times in its facilities for public knowledge. The General Directorate of Labor, Hygiene and Occupational Safety; The General Directorate of the Civil Service and the Departmental and Regional Labor Headquarters of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare will control compliance.
