OHLA has joined a alliance of 12 European companies also composed of Envalora, Neinor Homes, Grupo Arpada, Macotran, RCD Asociación, S. SOLIS, Uder, Alier, Mondi Group, Saint-Gobain Spain and CoCircular to promote circularity in the construction sector.

This is a pioneering initiative to respond to the need for reduce the use of raw materials, reuse materials, optimize recyclingand adopt good practices of selective collection and responsible management in the construction sector. This alliance, which has also been joined by two associations from the kraft paper bag industry: Eurosac and CEPI Eurokraft, arises from a common interest in achieving total circularity in the recycling of paper bags and other materials. used in construction, promoting efficient industrial waste management.

The alliance seeks to achieve circularity of paper bags initially through the construction industry and then extend it to other sectors such as the food. Its objectives also include implement a traceability system for ensure transparency at each stage of the process and seek efficiency in cost management, achieving a sustainable balance between environmental and economic aspects and seeking the greatest involvement between the different members of the value chain.

Circular economy

OHLA considers the circular economy a key aspect in waste management in order to move towards a more sustainable business model. Under this premise, the company works in all its projects trying to recirculate the resources it uses for as long as possible in the economic and productive system by promoting the reduction, reuse and recycling of waste and the implementation of innovative processes and new technologies. .

In this sense, and within the framework of the objectives set in the Sustainability Plan of the company, it should be noted that, in fiscal year 2023, a 83.5% of Non-Hazardous Waste (RNP) have had a different fate than landfillsof which 100% are reused or recycled.
