The actor Glen Powell He attracted a lot of attention after telling a chilling story about a cannibal. However, as some media anticipated, it was ultimately an urban legend that was not at all true. This has been a relief for several viewers as well as for the performer himself.

During his appearance in Therapuss Podcastwhere he promoted his new film hit man, Powell shared a shocking story in which a friend of her sister discovered she had gone on a date with a cannibal. According to Glen, the woman was massaged by the killer with a strange lotion, which she would later discover from her doctor came from the black market and was designed to break down skin for human consumption.

Not only that, but the actor also claimed that a police raid had discovered numerous bodies in the alleged perpetrator’s home. However, although the story gained popularity for its engaging narrative, it was ultimately dismissed as a mere invention.

Powell himself acknowledged the mistake after reading a Buzzfeed article that denied his story. On his Twitter account, the actor admitted the mistake: “Shout out to my little sister’s friend who told her this dating story… I’ve been telling this for years. Now I question my whole life… False alarm.” Powell also jokingly added: “Back massages are back.”

According to Snopes, a site dedicated to fact-checking rumors and urban legends, Powell’s story is a variant of an ancient urban legend known as Romantic Encounter with a Necrophiliacwhich translated into Spanish is understood as Romantic encounter with a necrophile.

The same outlet first reported on this legend in 2001, where initial iterations involved a woman going to the doctor for a genital rash and eventually discovering that it had been caused by a worm or bacteria commonly found on dead bodies. This implied that the person she had had relations with was involved in necrophilic activities.

The cannibalistic variation of this legend emerged around 2009 and little by little began to echo in Internet communities, adding to a huge catalog of anecdotes that millions of users took for granted after receiving them in their emails, but that with the evolution of the networks ended up being denied.

Parallel to the revelation of his sister’s story, Glen Powell shared that Tom Cruise cheated on him during the filming of Top Gun: Maverick, simulating losing control of a helicopter while piloting it. The incident occurred when they were returning to London after filming at Pinewood Studios.

According to Powell, speaking to British GQ, Cruise began exclaiming “Oh no, oh no!” as he descended abruptly upon London, making Powell think: “Am I going to end up being the unknown guy who dies with Tom in a smoking hole in the middle of London?”.

In the film, released in 2022, Cruise plays an instructor who trains new pilots, including Lt. Jake Hangman Seresin, played by Powell. The actor also mentioned: “I thought I could be Tom Cruise.”although he admitted that his co-star’s flying skills are superior: “He has a helicopter and he’s flying real planes.”
