On this occasion, Nacho Barrueco, a Spaniard currently living in Irelandhas explained to his followers how the country’s health system operates from his own experience.

He has been living in Ireland for two years now, and one of the aspects that surprises him most is the poor sanitary conditions he finds there compared to Spain: “It is unusual to talk about the fact that In Spain we have one of the most outstanding health systems in the world, if not the best. I have realized this since I live in Ireland.”

He thus shows the truth of the saying “you don’t know what you have until you lose it”, as he explains that there are quite a few Irish people who turn to him to praise our country’s health system: “It’s just that Irish people themselves tell me so: Nacho, how lucky you are in Spain to have that type of healthcare.” However, he has now realized that he lives abroad and has been able to compare.

In fact, he took the opportunity a few weeks before when he returned home unexpectedly to go to the health center for some headaches he was having, and he was surprised at the speed with which they treated him. On behalf of the public sector, she went without an appointment to her family doctor and to the emergency room. And on the private side, she took the opportunity to check with the traumatologist and the dermatologist, all in five days.

These types of appointments are much more expensive in Ireland and also take longer. The young man explains that in order to get an appointment there they would spend a few two weeksand also It would cost 100 euros. Although on the other hand, it is not a pleasant experience, since being within the European Union you can access the doctor for free thanks to the European health card; however, “When you show the card it seems like they laugh in your face.”
