JUAN ATALAYA POLYCLINIC WILL BE A SECOND LEVEL HOSPITAL

San José de Cúcuta June 25, 2024. (Mayor’s Office of Cúcuta) Thanks to the joint work of the Mayor’s Office of Cúcuta, through the Ministry of Health, and the Municipal Health Institute (Imsalud), the project to convert the Polyclinic of the citadel Juan Atalaya in a second level hospital, for the health care of thousands of citizens, is a fact.

The Departmental Health Institute (IDS) has already approved the management to install 143 beds, 28 offices, two delivery rooms, 45 observation stretchers, six emergency offices, two resuscitation rooms and five operating rooms for general surgery care, emergencies, gynecology, maxillofacial surgery and orthopedics.

President Jorge Acevedo stated that: “We have the peace of mind to move forward with a project that was completely dead and was going to be liquidated, but we got our act together from day one and today I want to highlight the work of the health office and Imsalud. . “Now we can present the investment to the national government.”

The project investment would be 120 billion pesos, of which it is expected that the national level will contribute 70% and that the remaining figure will be borne by the sectional administration.

Once the works are approved, it is expected that the second level hospital will be launched within two years. The mayor estimates that, by the end of his third year in office, he will be able to deliver the materialized project. “This will allow us to serve the community of communes seven and eight, including the emergencies of El Zulia and San Cayetano, and decongest the Erasmo Meoz University Hospital,” he said.

Additionally, Acevedo Peñaloza indicated that the health investment that the city will have includes studies for the improvement of three basic care units with the help of ‘Enterritorio’ and the certification of others to strengthen them.
