Marvel He already has one of his projects for the future on track. This is a new series that will recover one of the “forgotten” superheroes after the end of phase 3 of the MCU. It is fixed to premiere in 2026 and it still does not have an official name or a defined synopsis, but it promises to bring back one of the most interesting characters we have met in recent years.

The protagonist will be Vision, the synthetic android who became the romantic interest of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and who died in The Avengers: Infinity War (2018). According to Variety, Paul Bettany will play him again. On the other hand, the showrunner be Terry Matalas, executive producer of the series Star Trek: Picard.

Vision died not once, but twice before. The first at the hands of his beloved Wanda, who had to sacrifice him to destroy the mind gem he carried in his head and prevent it from ending up in the hands of Thanos. However, the villain used the power of the time stone to travel to the past and get the stone on your own, killing the android for the second time.

Three years later, in 2021, Bettany returned to the character for the series Scarlet Witch and Vision. The first episodes showed the couple as protagonists of various types of sitcoms, but it was not real. Everything was a product of the grief that Wanda was going through, which led him to create an alternative world where he had raised a family in Westview along with a fictional version of Vision no memories about his previous life.

In the same series we were also introduced to White Vision, a new rebuild of the android created by SWORD from the remains of the original who also did not have memories about his past. He and the anomaly version of Wanda fought until the fictional Vision He managed to reestablish Blanco’s memories. It then disappeared when Wanda dismantled the anomaly, so Blanco remained the only version alive.

Apparently, The new series will closely follow Visión Blanco, now with the memories of the original version, as he searches for the purpose of his new life. It will be the first episodic project that Marvel has signed on in almost two years, representing the change in the company’s philosophy since operating under the Disney umbrella. Since 2022 they have been trying to find a more television model, with fewer projects per year and longer development time, to reduce the saturation of works about superheroes that we have witnessed lately.

Another version of a series about Vision was close to going ahead. I was going to be in charge of Jac Schaeffer, creator of Scarlet Witch and Visionbut he finally opted for Agatha All Along (2024), the spin-off about Agatha Harkness. Later, Marvel ended up calling Terry Matalas after the successes that the executive producer achieved with Star Trek: Picard. She had a lot to do with that Kevin Feige CEO of Marvel, is a declared fan of the science-fiction saga, which ended up bringing Matalas closer to this project.
