He Veteran British actor Ian McKellen will not return to the stage when the performance of ‘Player Kings’ in the West End. The actor, 85, who plays John Falstaff in the show directed by Robert Icke, was performing at London’s Noel Coward Theater when fell during a fight scene earlier this week.

A post on the ‘Player Kings’ X account also confirmed the news today: “David Semark will play the role of Sir John Falstaff in the last three performances scheduled at the Noël Coward Theater in London while Ian McKellen recovers after his fall on Monday, June 17.”
And he added: “We are looking forward to Ian returning to production, national tour begins in Bristol on Wednesday 3 July, before visiting Birmingham, Norwich and Newcastle.”
