A Dutch tourist was found dead of still unknown causes in a hotel room in Medellín, the capital of Antioquia, where they died this week for violent reasons three Americans, according to sources from the National Police this Saturday.

The other two cases correspond to that of Anthony Lopezfound dead in a hotel in the Laureles neighborhood, and that of Manley Mark Conlen, 37, who died after falling from the 17th floor of a building.

In the midst of this panorama, La FM de RCN recently spoke with the Secretary of Security of Medellín, Manuel Villa, who highlighted the need to address this problem comprehensively.

Secretary Villa insisted on the seriousness of the situation, recalling that in 2023, 118 deaths of foreigners were reported in Medellín, of which 45 were violent. Among these, he highlighted that 36 corresponded to Venezuelan citizens and nine to people of other nationalities.

According to preliminary police information, the causes of death of the five foreigners include two by suicide and the other three are yet to be established, despite being associated with health problems and overdoses.

Alert tourists who use dating apps

In January, the United States Embassy in Colombia issued an alert of homicides of foreigners who use dating applications in Medellín, since between November and December of last year eight compatriots died violently in this city.
