Sernapesca, considering the dates, have made a call and disseminated the “Safe Fishing and Responsible Consumption” campaign.
During the activity, the inspection figures for Holy Week were also delivered. “So far this 2024 campaign, since March 11, 98 inspections have been carried out, of which 42 were joint inter-institutional operations, controlling 548 agents and 174 vehicles. To date, 380.06 tons of legal fishing have been controlled, seizing 9.74 tons of resources from illegal operations and 2 offending vehicles,” highlighted the National Director of Sernapesca, Soledad Tapia.
The service has pointed out the flow of commercialization and the importance of fishing in our country. Artisanal fishermen and sales stalls must be attentive, because consumption in Chile is still at 15 kilos per person, which is very low if we compare it to the world average, which is 20 kilos.
