a young man is torn between life and death

Everything is very confusing in the latest episode of urban violence that occurred on Wednesday morning in the Yapeyú neighborhood, southeastern area of the city of Córdoba, when a 22-year-old young man ended up lying on the ground with at least three shots from a gun. of fire. Mauricio Lescano is hospitalized in serious condition. Justice is trying to establish if he had participated in a robbery or if he was escaping from an aggressor for some pending account.

Minutes before the shooting, they had seen him going from door to door, trying to enter any home, according to sources with access to the case.

Spokespersons for the investigation leaned, at the beginning of the investigations, towards an apparent “attempted robbery” repelled by anonymous hands.

However, no one still dares to deny that the violent episode could be related to revenge for other issues that need to be revealed.

Lescano, as identified by police sources, had been seen since 6 in the morning hanging around the area near 2000 Panama Street, in the neighboring neighborhood of Bajo General Paz, according to what was said in the neighborhood.

He would then have moved to the place where he was injured.

That point is a corner of the neighborhood that is located towards its margins, almost reaching Costanera Avenue. Crossing the Suquía River, you reach the Müller neighborhood.

But it was not until 2988 in Panama that they saw him walking from door to door, trying to enter “any home,” as some occasional witnesses to the event mentioned.

At that moment the shots were heard. It was already 7.

The young man was left lying on the ground. When the police arrived, they found that he had been shot in the legs at least twice.

He himself was the one who said what had happened: “They hit me, they hit me,” he repeated.

He was transferred to the Emergency Hospital, where they detected a gunshot wound in the right groin, with an entry hole with no exit, another in the right knee and another in the left leg, the latter with an entry and exit hole.

They referred him to shock room of the hospital center. His state of health is reserved and the prognoses are not good.

Unrest in Yapeyú

The scene left the Yapeyú neighborhood uneasy. According to its inhabitants, during the early mornings the neighborhood became a very dark spot in the Capital, where “ambushes, robberies and fights multiplied.”

“He (for Lescano) walked through all the neighborhoods in this area. We didn’t know he had a fixed occupation, but we didn’t think of him as a thief either. The truth is that many young people have started stealing recently,” commented a neighborhood representative. He preferred anonymity.

His version does not find variations in the stories of the rest of his neighbors, who hardly wanted to express any opinion.

In the businesses near the place where the detonations were heard, they were not willing to give too many details in their versions, although in several businesses they acknowledged that they knew “the Mauricio.”

“I was still going to school and studying,” said a newsstand worker. “I didn’t do anything all day,” contradicted another voice who also did not want to be identified.

Meanwhile, the Córdoba Police began to work and were deployed in the area. They were looking for footage and witnesses who could locate the steps prior to the attack suffered by Lescano.

The question was only one: Was he stealing or had he been persecuted with the idea of settling some pending “quarrel”?

In this case, there are still no arrests or charges.

An area of low houses with repeated robberies

Aside from the concern caused by this new police incident in the Yapeyú neighborhood, its inhabitants said that violence and robberies began to multiply. There are even those who said that “the neighborhood is very dangerous, like it never was before.”

“They steal from the Cenma teachers, the school teachers, those who come to the Yapeyú Club and all the people who do not live in the neighborhood. But robberies have also started among the neighbors and this generates a lot of violence,” said a representative of the area.

He also assured that the robber gangs are made up of very young boys. “They start stealing at 11 years old,” he said.

And he pointed out that many teenagers end up locked up for a few months and return to the neighborhood more violent. “The solution is not to send them to Complejo Esperanza. We must make them return to schools and integrate into society, although their families are also absolutely disarmed,” she analyzed.

“The truth is that the area is increasingly unsafe. I hope that as a result of these unfortunate situations the insecurity can be solved or calmed a little,” concluded another source consulted, after listing a series of problems related to different crimes: theft of cell phones, cars and even entrances to houses in the neighborhood. .
