Like every year since the association Community Development of San José Obrero we present a party program Made with love and commitment, with which we try to reach all the people who live in the neighborhood and also those who come to share a good time with us during these holidays. “This is a program in which we have tried to return to our most popular charactertrying to improve the mistakes made in other years and reinforce the successes,” they explain.

The holidays will give starting on Tuesday, April 30 with the traditional proclamation in the Plaza de la Encomiendawhich this time will be carried out by the solidarity kitchen volunteers. That group of women who, in the worst of the economic crisis, gave a lesson in solidarity, dignity, commitment and work by opening a kitchen from which to help people and families who were in a complicated and unfavorable situation. “The neighborhood, and the entire city, owed them a tribute and we believe that this proclamation is a form of recognition to those who gave so much without expecting anything in return,” they explain from the Community Development association. After the proclamation the party will begin with the charanga ‘El tropezón’, to continue with the first festival by the ‘Compass’ orchestra and a fireworks show.

On Wednesday, May 1, it will be the turn for the football, cycling, the águedas and activities for the little ones with the participatory collage ‘Imagine your neighborhood’. This day the epicenter of the festivities will move to the Plaza de Ángel Bariego from where the beginning of the festival will take place. ‘Worker’s Day’ demonstration as well as the VII edition of its community vermouth enlivened with music, sangria and a good snack.

On Thursday, May 2, it will be the turn for the flamenco night at the La Josa Pavilion, which will feature performances by Esther Merino and Raúl Montesinos on vocals and Antonio Carrión on guitar. Tickets are priced at 12 euros in advance (Bar El Chispa, Bar Donde Juanchu, Bar Avalon and Multicolchón) and 15 euros at the box office. Before, at 5:00 p.m., at the top of the pavilion we can enjoy an open day in its gym.

On Friday, May 3, in the afternoon, we will have inflatables and children’s workshops around the story for the little ones; a new charanga, this time by the group ‘Manaíta’; concert by the group ‘Joyalada’ in the La Josa pavilion; and the festival with a night of pop-rock party by the Gaudí Group.

On Saturday, May 4, it will start with a vermouth session in the Plaza de la Encomienda by ‘Brasi, Ceci y Mon’. In the afternoon the children’s games will return with surprises for adults as well. Starting at seven the group ‘Gaitas y más’ will tour the streets of the neighborhood with their music. At the same time, the ‘La Arracada’ association organizes the 17th edition of the ‘Ciudad de Zamora’ Traditional Dance Festival, which will take place in the La Josa pavilion. The night will close with a great festival by the ‘Flamingo’ orchestra.

The last day of the festivities, Sunday, May 5, opens in the morning with the traditional Carbine Shooting competition in the La Josa pavilion and with the street-level show of ‘Pumuky Circo Chisme’ in the Plaza de La Encomienda . In the afternoon, the football spectacle will return to the La Josa football field where the ‘Veteranos de San José Obrero’ will face a team made up of the board of directors and friends of the association, who will try to make a fool of themselves as little as possible, although They don’t promise anything. And the festivities will close next to the booth in the Plaza de la Encomienda. DJ’S ‘Mucho Lirili y Poco Lerele’ that will liven up the afternoon until the traditional final fireworks with which we will bid farewell to the festivities until next year.
