The regional president celebrated the progress of the calcareous rock crushing and grinding plant, while giving impetus to the new project for the production of stone derivatives from the calcination of rocks and organic-mineral mixtures, by signing the loan of the lot where the industrial complex is developed.

The governor of Huila Rodrigo Villalba along with his technical team visited the facilities of the Huila Agromining Corporation – CORPOAGROMINH, to see first-hand the progress of construction and equipment of the industrial plant for crushing and grinding calcareous rocks (limestone and dolomites). , aimed at the technological strengthening of the mining chain in the department of Huila.

This ambitious project, financed with resources from the General Royalties system in excess of $4.3 billion, will allow, through technological processes, to improve the competitiveness of the mining subsector, benefiting 28 productive units in the municipalities of Neiva, Palermo, Santa María, and Teruel, dedicated to the exploitation of calcitic and dolomitic rocks (calcium and magnesium carbonates).

Thanks to this industrialization process, mesh granulometries between 20 and 250 can be achieved, which make Magnesium Carbonate an excellent soil corrector, as a PH neutralizer, and fertilizers; calcium carbonate in mesh sizes between 20 and 80, as an excellent source of easily absorbed calcium; and in finer meshes of between 100 and 450, destined for the industrial sector of ceramics, floors, paints, detergents, soaps, disinfectants, among other by-products.

For the Huilense president, one of the comparative advantages that our department has are the mining reserves that can greatly contribute to the agro-industrialization process that is contemplated in the National Development Plan, and that with the help of leadership such as those who lead today Mining organizations will help Huila advance towards a safe north.

New boost to the agro-mining cluster

During this same event, which was attended by miners from the northwest of the department, the Mayor’s Office of Palermo, and important personalities, the governor of Huila signed a document to hand over on loan the lot where a new phase of the transformation complex will be developed. through the project called “Production of stone derivatives from the calcination of rocks and organic-mineral mixtures in the department of Huila”, which seeks to increase the volume of processing of stone-mineral raw materials with little diversification in the use industrial.

Faced with this new phase that will help strengthen the agro-mining cluster, the regional leader expressed the willingness of the departmental government to contribute to the development of these works, which will contribute to strengthening the department as an agricultural and tourism power, and in the future as a clean energy power.

“At a good time this project appears, which is like the final part of this agro-industrial, agro-mining process, in which we commit ourselves with the greatest pleasure, providing from the government all the availability so that this process can be established and developed right here. Talking about mining, about Palermo, about Neiva, talking about this mining wealth in the Central Mountain Range, about dolomites, marbles, phosphate rock, and aggregates, is an enormous value that the department of Huila has, which in turn is a power. with nature tourism, and emerging rural tourism, and we have also envisioned that it can be a generating power for sustainable energy, and today we see with very good eyes this challenge that you have been taking on, such as agro-mining,” indicated the governor of the Huila.

High-tech system

This project financed with resources from the Ministry of Mines and Energy in the order of $5,000 million, which included advice from the technical team of the Ministry of Agriculture and Mining of the Department, and institutional support to the Mayor’s Office of Palermo, will allow the development of a high-tech system for rock calcination, which includes the processes of crushing, calcination, internal transportation, classification, packaging and storage for the production of calcium and magnesium oxides, for the mixing of organic-mineral products.

This new phase is articulated to the previous crushing and grinding process, in a link of the agro-mining productive chain, within the framework of the development of a mining cluster in the north of the department, and contemplates the construction, supply, equipment, and installation The Mineral Processing Plant and its derivatives are underway, with a calcination capacity of 24,000 tons of dolomites per year, and a production of organic-mineral mixtures in the order of 9,000 tons per year.

For the mayor of Palermo Kleyver Oviedo Farfán, the completion of the project for crushing and grinding calcareous rocks, and the beginning of the project for calcining stone materials, is a sign that, if you can work as a team between the different instances such as the Government of Huila, the Mayor’s Office of Palermo, and the national government, benefiting farmers with this type of initiatives, providing them with better opportunities.
