The UFO Museum was raided in Entre Ríos for illegal possession of antiquities

The UFO Museum in the city of Victoria, in Between riverswas raided this Wednesday due to suspicion of the existence of antiquities that were illegally in the place, among which was a mummy foot of Peruvian originwhich had been reported by the Peruvian Embassy.

This Wednesday morning, members of the Argentine Federal Police carried out a raid on the museum where they interviewed Andrea Perez Simondini, responsible for the place and who explained to them that the mummy’s foot It had been recovered more than 35 years ago in Peru by his family during a move.

Simondini explained that he had been having communications with the Embassy, ​​with the Department of Culture so that the responsibility of carrying it out of the embassy.

According to what he told the local press, the discovery occurred in the context of some archaeological excavations in the Paracas area, where a complete skeleton was unearthed that was later accidentally dismembered, leaving one of the limbs loose.

Once rescued, the piece was preserved and displayed in the museum permanently.

“My father, who was an oilman, did not find the mummy’s foot. It was I who recovered it while I was on vacation in Lima“, he explained and added: “After several attempts to donate the piece to different institutions, including the embassy and natural science museums, we decided to exhibit it in our local museum.”

The Peruvian authorities expressed their interest in recovering the antiquity, and made the complaint that led to the police operation they carried out this Wednesday.

After what happened, Simondini expressed his desire for the piece to be returned to Peru for exhibition at the Peruvian Gold Museum, as requested by the country’s cultural authorities.

“The truth is that it was quite unpleasant because they took a lot of pieces that are things that are found here in Victoria on the coast, shells and those ancient fossils that are on the coast when they come down to the coast,” he said.
