According to the report of the Departmental Health Service (Headquarters) of the Government, Six patients have died from influenza so far this year in Santa Cruz. However, They clarify that there are two more cases to confirm or rule out in the Scientific Committee.
“We have had deaths due to this disease and we do not want to have more, so the gratitude is great, but not only for the influenza vaccines but also for the vaccination week,” remarked Jaime Bilbao, director of the Headquarters, this Wednesday upon receiving 530,470 doses against this pathology from the government.
Bilbao explained that in this first phase vaccination begins on ThursdayMay 2, in children under 23 months of age, over 60 years of age, people with underlying diseases, pregnant women and health personnel.
The second phase of vaccination will begin in June and July. in which it will be extended to minors from 2 to 12 years of age.
According to reports from the same Ministry of Health, Santa Cruz has been the department hardest hit by influenza in this administration. Due to this, almost half a million of the doses that arrived in the country to prevent this disease they were delivered this morning in the capital of Santa Cruz.
The health authorities urge the population to go to the vaccination points to request the administration of the doses, both for minors and for people considered to be in risk groups.; that is, with underlying diseases, older adults, pregnant women.
