Commercial Emergency in Tierra del Fuego: “The conditions are in place to approve the project”

Provincial legislator Federico Sciurano stated that, as a result of the recession that is being experienced in Argentina and the impact that this generates in the sector, it is imperative to have a “trade protection law”, and he anticipated the possibility that it could A project to this end will be approved as soon as this Wednesday, April 24, which includes relief measures for the commercial sector.

In the run-up to the session to be held this day in the Fuegian Parliament, Sciurano observed that the commercial sector is going through situations that have become “very conflictive”, and mentioned the tax executions with the seizure of current accounts.

“It paralyzes the commercial sector, by having the account seized you have infinite difficulties in being able to comply with your obligations, both with your employees, such as paying rent or paying suppliers. We all understand the need to be able to generate a protection law in the situation we are experiencing today,” he indicated in dialogue with Radio Provincia.

In this sense, Sciurano mentioned that, after the Commission meeting on Monday with the presence of the Chambers of Commerce and after the various projects in motion of the different blocks, it was possible to agree on a wording “that I understand will be able to be approved today with the opinion that came from Commission II”.

“So that the commercial sector immediately at least has one issue solved, that it can have a tool that helps it pass this moment, in the last administration, which was the time of the pandemic, where the Legislature approved a law that helped many merchants stay afloat,” he recalled.

Meanwhile, Sciurano emphasized that the public sector must commit to the private sector, “because ultimately the private sector is the one that generates the necessary wealth so that the public sector can have the resources and be able to carry out the administration forward.”

“The conditions are in place for the project to be approved, it also proposes authorization for the DPOSS and the DPE to be authorized to carry out a moratorium. Although the original proposal is directed at the AREF, it is important to expand this view for basic services that the provincial government provides, and that has to do with this figure of delay, although in general they pay for the water and gas service because if not they cut it off, it is being able to keep up with this,” he evaluated.
