Comprehensively strengthen the work of Community Cultural Organizations of
The O’Higgins Region is one of the main objectives of the Culture Points program
Community, strategic initiative of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage,
which is executed with the University of O’Higgins (UOH), and which will keep the registry open until June 30 for the registration and validation of cultural groups in the territory.

The Seremi of Cultures, Flor Ilic, stated that “we are in the process of implementing
of the Culture Points program, a strategic initiative of the Ministry, which places cultural work with a local perspective in the territories at the center, for the same reason, we seek to strengthen community-based cultural organizations, through resources that will allow them to generate sustainable management over time, and accompaniment and associative work that will be implemented by the UOH, through advice and technical support. We want more organizations to join the registration and validation of Culture Points, which will be open until June 30.”

In this sense, Clemencia González, director of Culture, Heritage and Extension of the UOH, points out that the University’s work plan aims to “strengthen community cultural organizations recognized as Community Culture Points.

In this context, the University is committed to sustainable development and equity, in line with the mission of the Ministry of Cultures, promoting social inclusion, gender equality and the transformation of the regional environment. This collaboration seeks to expand cultural, social and political rights in the O’Higgins Region, highlighting the joint commitment to inclusive and equitable development throughout the country.”

Currently, there are 14 organizations that make up this Program throughout the entire region. Among these are the La Maquinaria de Graneros Theater Company, the Batuquebatu Carnival School of Peumo, the Ruedas de Larmahue Group of Pichidegua, the Quetralmahue Youth Group of Rengo, the La Puerta Cultural Center of Quinta de Tilcoco, Queltehue, the Cultural Group Teatro Impronta, the Cambalache Foundation, the Rancagua Bioenergy Collective, all located in the Province of Cachapoal.

In addition, the Kalfumalén Artistic Ecoschool and the Aukán de San Fernando Cultural Center for Communications participate from the Province of Colchagua. Added to these are Arte Libre, Socio-Cultural Artistic Development of Pichilemu, Espacio La Liebre de Marchigüe and the Pichilemu Sustainable Development Center in Cardenal Caro.

One of the milestones of this program has been the carrying out of a participatory diagnosis to know the current situation of the Community Culture Points (PCC) in the O’Higgins region, and to account for the main strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and threats to them. that organizations face. Among the needs mentioned are access to financing, technical assistance to strengthen its management, dissemination of its activities, links between organizations, among others.

Within the framework of its Linkage with the Environment and Extension Policy, together with its public commitment, the University of O’Higgins will work on four essential components. These include the Regional Meeting of Culture Points, Technical Assistance to Culture Points, the development of a Methodological Guide focused on the work of community cultural organizations with a gender, inclusion and intercultural perspective, and the preparation of a Report on the diagnosis general and the projections of the Community Culture Points.
