The situation of workers in La Rioja

The Association of State Workers (ATE) has been in constant movement due to the policies of the current National Governmentsince since Javier Milei he assumed the presidency and they are going more than 11 thousand layoffs in the area of public employees. This brutal adjustment has repercussions throughout the country, with La Rioja being one of the provinces most affected by this type of measures.

In communication with El Destape Radiothe general secretary of ATE La Rioja, Alfredo Aranaindicated that in the province “There were layoffs in almost all departments”while others are also in danger because ““rents and services stopped being paid” for four months. This lack of payments It is due to the adjustment promoted by the National Government towards the provinces, so public offices could eventually be closed. due to the inability to pay for services.

“The rents are not being paid for most of the offices and those that are in their own building, which are not many, the services were not paid: the cleaning service was not paid, the electricity was not paid, the electricity was not paid. water, internet was not paid. Virtually all payments were cancelled. That was since the beginning of January, because the previous government left it paid until December and since this libertarian government has been in place, nothing has been paid.”he added.

On the other hand, despite the meeting they had with the governor Ricardo Quintelaassured that the response regarding workers of national organizations must be given from the National Government, but in the same way he regretted that these means of communication are closed. “There are a lot of people who are left without a place to do the paperwork. For example, in the ANSES office, there is an entire office that was closed, and an office that is here, 150 kilometers away, which is Chamical, is closed for evict due to non-payment of rents. The population is also left to their own devices, and to carry out a procedure they will have to come to the only office left, which is in the capital, with half of the workers. In other words, there are currently 25 workers to cover all the demand for procedures throughout the province.”he added.
