During the Plan and Land Commission, which took place this Friday in the Council of Santiago de Cali, the Secretary of Social Housing and Habitat, María del Mar Mozo, presented to the councilors the plans, programs and projects contemplated in the Plan of District Development that are held by the Housing portfolio and that positively impact the development of the city and aim to improve indicators of poverty and social inequality to generate a safer Cali.

“The mayor has very ambitious goals in terms of housing to reduce the qualitative and quantitative deficit and dignify the quality of life of the people of Cali, in addition we will directly and indirectly impact the generation of jobs so the city will be much better economically,” he said. Among the most relevant topics, the official presented the housing solutions proposed for the four-year period such as self-construction, subsidies for the purchase of social and priority housing framed in the ‘Casa mia’ program, the improvement of housing and the legalization of settlements. humans of incomplete development in the city.

“In this Administration we are betting on two very great government legacies, one of them is to impact the legalization of 40 human settlements of incomplete development and the second is to deliver subsidies to more than 4,000 households so that they can have financial closure in the purchase of their homes,” the official added.

During the day, they also talked about the comprehensive improvement of the habitat, which includes the continuation of large city projects such as the Cristo Rey Comprehensive Project, in all its phases, and the completion of the visitor service center so that during COP16, both members and visitors can enjoy this work.

Another of the Comprehensive Habitat Improvement projects framed in the ‘Improving MIHábitat’ program is Productive Rural Housing in the Navarro district, an initiative that seeks to generate housing in the rural sector for families with an agricultural vocation.

In this space, there was also talk of the portfolio consolidation that exists as a result of housing loans granted to citizens in previous governments through the organization and the Special Housing Fund. The collection process is being encouraged according to District Agreement 567 of 2023, which seeks to give people a discount of up to 90% interest on their credits and the possibility of signing payment agreements.

On the premises, the councilors asked questions and made interventions and also generated proposals to be taken into account, such as increasing the proposed goals, generating more housing improvements and speeding up some projects led by the organization.

The Secretariat of Social Housing and Habitat received the different proposals from the councilors to study them and be able to make the pertinent adjustments to the Development Plan.
