The Red Cross received an alert at 12:20 pm this Saturday about a shooting at a McDonald’s restaurant on Paseo Colón, where they reported a serious injury, according to preliminary reports.

Preliminary information indicates that a boy entered the premises with a knife and threatened people to give him food. When the municipal police entered, the man tried to attack them, so the officers shot him in the leg and abdomen.

The injured man, whose identity is unknown, was transferred to the Calderón Guardia Hospital in critical condition.

The Arcos Dorados company expressed its solidarity with the person affected by the events that occurred on Paseo Colón, which are already under investigation by the authorities.

In a statement they add that as soon as the emergency occurred, the team working at the site followed the security protocol, requesting the presence of the authorities, who took charge of the situation.

The restaurant was closed and the well-being of the employees and customers present in the place was prioritized. The company adds that it is collaborating with the authorities in their investigation and forwards any information about the case to them.
