The International Tourism Fair (FITCuba 2024) was a success. It was the right moment to show the renewal of Cuba’s tourism product, the digitalization of processes to improve the customer experience, the expansion of renewable energy sources, the transformation of products with more accessibility, respectful of the environment and in in line with the country’s commitment to fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals.

This was expressed by the Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García Granda, when closing the event, which was attended by the member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, and where 1,537 foreign professionals participated; of them, 437 travel agents on familiarization visits, with massive participation from the countries to which this Latin American and Caribbean fair was dedicated.

García Granda expressed that, as part of the digital transformation of the destination, it was announced that Cuba will implement, starting this month, a new electronic visa system for tourism that will replace the current tourist card, to facilitate the international flow to our country. country.

He reported that next year’s edition of the International Tourism Fair will take place in Havana, will showcase the traditions of Cuba as a product, and will be dedicated to the People’s Republic of China as the Guest of Honor country.

CUBA ANNOUNCES VISA EXEMPTION FOR CHINESE CITIZENS

García Granda announced that, in the midst of important efforts to promote economic-commercial ties with China, particularly the promotion of tourism, Cuba established visa exemption for Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports.

“Both parties agree on the need to continue creating conditions and a favorable environment to strengthen relations in multiple sectors, including the development of tourism,” highlighted the head of Mintur.

On the other hand, the Chinese ambassador in Havana, His Excellency Mr. Ma Hui, expressed that the restart of direct flights and the visa exemption for nationals are decisions that contribute to strengthening the relations of both countries.
