80 kilometers and a two-hour drive separate Manizales from Murillo (Tolima). To visit this municipality on a Sunday is to encounter the daily life of a town located at 2,950 m asl and with an average temperature of 12º Celsius.
Visiting Murillo is immersing yourself between color and silence. The latter is sometimes extinguished by the noise of a motorcycle, the gallop of a horse or the mooing of a cow. The traditional and colorful houses serve as a photo frame for the tourist who visit this municipality of Tolima, which became a tourist attraction after the repair of the road that connects it with Manizales (Caldas).
Locals wearing ruanas and hats mix with children with red cheeks from the cold of the area. To visit this town is to encounter everyday life and at the same time postcards to remember.
The municipality’s economy is focused on the production of milk, potato, peas, lettuce and vegetables. Its festivities take place on the second long weekend in August, every two years.
