The Mission Specialist It is capable of diving up to 1000 meters deep. It is equipped with an HD camera, manipulator arm, oceanographic probes and ultra-high definition sonar. In addition, it has hydroacoustic positioning and automatic navigation systems, which land allow you to carry out operations autonomously.

In this way, the ROV, unique of its kind in the country, it incorporates the most advanced technology currently available commercially in the field of marine exploration. Through the acquisition of this equipment, UNCo intends to contribute to strengthening the capabilities of the national scientific system, develop strategic lines of research in Marine Sciences and provide exploration, survey and monitoring services to the private sector.

There was also a meeting of UNCo authorities with the mayor of San Antonio Oeste, Adrián Casadei, who made the facilities of the municipal pool for the team’s water tests and the training course for operators.

At ESCiMar, the Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Biology and the Technical Degree in Fisheries Production and Mariculture are taught.

During 2023, the Ministry of Science awarded scientific-technological equipment in Neuquén for more than 80 million pesos. In this regard, the Minister of Science, Daniel Filmus, assured: “Not all governments support Science and Technology, which is a political definition in itself. When we took office, 85% of the resources were concentrated in the metropolitan region and now there has been almost a Copernican revolution, because almost 85% of the investment is destined for the entire country.”

And he concluded: “Investing more in science and technology is the strategy to change the country’s productive matrix. To achieve this objective, it is not enough to simply improve the salaries of researchers, but we also invest in equipment and infrastructure.”
