Deputy K, against the “guaranteed profitability” for transport businessmen

The Mendoza deputy Natalia Vicenciofrom the Peronist sector headed by Anabel Fernndez Sagasti, wants eliminate of the public transportation law, the article that talks about guaranteeing reasonable profitability for companies that provide the service.

Vicencio presented a project to eliminate the Article 21 of Law 9086which states: “Concessionaires will have the right to have the grantor guarantee them a reasonable average profitability.which must be maintained during the validity of the concession contract, as long as they prove the provision under the contractually required conditions of efficiency…”.

According to Representative K, “The article in question completely distorted the figure of the businessman while it eliminates one of the main characteristics of business activity: economic risk. The investment that private capital makes in any sector of the economy with the legitimate and fair objective of obtaining a profit always has as a counterpart the risk that the businessman must assume with respect to the activity he undertakes.”

Sergio Pensalfine, one of the main transportation businessmen in Mendoza.

Vicencio, originally from General Alvear but living in Guaymalln for years, in turn questioned the recent “jump” in the bus fare, which in Mendoza rose 175%.

“The increases have been steadily aggressive for the purchasing power of workers and middle classes for years, but the latest increase is practically prohibitive. The urban and suburban radio collective went from $200 to $550 as of May 1st. The increase in medium and long distance tickets is shocking: the ticket from San Rafael to the City of Mendoza went from costing $3090 to $8500. The result of any account that attempts to estimate the expenditure of a typical family at the end of a month is simply painful,” he said.

In summary, Vicencio questions the fact that both the national government and the provincial government promote the “liberation” of prices in the economy and the withdrawal of state intervention.and that the intervention of the State s appears to guarantee a “reasonable average profitability” to the business sector“whose scope no one knows, whose margin is not expressly established in any way and is absolutely opaque to the eyes of citizens in general.”
